Jack Wild is best known as a child actor who received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal as a supporting actor in the 1968 musical film Oliver!. His performance as The Artful Dodger got him an Oscar nomination for Most Promising Newcomer.
He grew up with his older brother, Arthur, in a working-class.
He married Welsh-born actress Gaynor Jone in 1976. They had gone to school together and first met at the age of 12. The marriage lasted for a decade but ended in 1985 due to Wilds’s excessive drinking. His second marriage was to Claire Harding, one year before his death.
